Getting there and around

Megève's international access runs through Geneva airport (GVA), about 1 h 15 by road, with direct links to the main European hubs and the Gulf. There is no direct TGV to Megève: the nearest station is Sallanches, about 15 minutes away, from which the village is reached by road. The A40 motorway serves the Arve valley, a heliport allows private transfers, and the mountain roads require winter tyres and a suitable vehicle in season.

The rhythm of the year

The Megève market sees two tourism peaks: the winter high season (led by the year-end holidays and February) and summer (July-August, golf, hiking, festivals). Active transactions tend to concentrate in spring and autumn, windows more favourable to viewings and logistics. For a remote buyer, the mid-season is ideal to judge true exposure, quiet and access once the snow has gone, with a winter visit remaining useful to check ski-in/ski-out access and snow clearance.
